Hands-on building
Students learn safe tool use and basic construction skills by building real projects: benches, tables, and structures that get used and enjoyed. Guided by experienced builders and instructors, they see how a plan becomes something real.
- Tool safety and technique
- Reading plans and measuring accurately
- Teamwork on a shared build
Career exposure
Students meet working professionals, visit job sites, and learn what each trade involves, from carpentry and electrical to plumbing, HVAC, and construction management. Our flagship career event, Cenla Trades Day, brings many industry partners together in one room.
- Job-site and facility visits
- Conversations with employers, unions, and apprenticeship programs
- Guidance on training, certifications, and first jobs

Leadership & community service
Chapter members take on real responsibility. Student officers help plan events, represent the chapter at community functions, and lead service projects. Our annual Mardi Gras parade float is a favorite: students ride as ambassadors for the trades.
- Student officer roles
- Community service projects
- Public speaking and teamwork
Scholarships
Thanks to generous local sponsors, the chapter awards scholarships to graduating seniors who meet our qualifications. Funds are paid directly to the student.
